A Survivor’s Tale: Eddie Philp

Aircraftman 1318195 Hedley (Eddie) Philp survived the war, where he trained at RAF Stormy down near Bridgend before being posted to no. 3 Group Bomber Command. He was later transferred to no. 8 group ‘The Pathfinders’, where he was proficient in arming the fuses and loading 2,000lb and 4,000lb bombs, as well as the target indicator flares. He returned to no. 3 group as a member of 514 Squadron at Raf Waterbeach North of Cambridge, where he ended his service in 1945.
