everybody has a story to tell about their life

Edith Marshall’s class

Joan Murray and Yvonne Cleave, 2013

JM: Was you there when Jack Hicks’ first wife Edith, she was Miss Marshall. She was our sewing teacher. I used to do these bibs with the bias binding around, blue and pink. It was when Dorothy had..er… Gina. I had to make these bibs for Gina.

YC: They used to sell these things the children made.

JM: I got sick and fed up making these bibs. She was lovely, a lovely teacher. Very tall. She used to hold herself nice, didn’t she?

YC: Yes she used to dress herself nice.

JM: It’s what we remember see!
