Learning to dance
YC: We all learned how to dance. Mrs May Brown taught us how to ballroom dance. We had Mrs Singers Band we used to call it ‘Mrs Swingers Band’
JM: Remember the old maid Anita, that song she was always singing ‘We’ll gather lilacs’
YC: And Mrs Singer’s daughter always used to sing, and we used to laugh cos she used to sing ‘We’ll gather lilacs in the Spring again.’
YC: I remember I had a boyfriend and I was standing in the hall and she come over and asked him to dance and I said ‘No, he can’t dance.’ I wasn’t going to have that!
