ARTICLE 27 - A SURVIVOR'S TALE: EDDIE PHILP

AIRCRAFTMAN 1318195 HEDLEY (EDDIE) PHILP SURVIVED THE WAR, WHERE HE TRAINED AT RAF STORMY DOWN NEAR BRIDGEND BEFORE BEING POSTED TO NO. 3 GROUP BOMBER COMMAND. HE WAS LATER TRANSFERRED TO NO. 8 GROUP 'THE PATHFINDERS', WHERE HE WAS PROFICIENT IN ARMING THE FUSES AND LOADING 2,000LB AND 4,000LB BOMBS, AS WELL AS THE TARGET INDICATOR FLARES. HE RETURNED TO NO. 3 GROUP AS A MEMBER OF 514 SQUADRON AT RAF WATERBEACH NORTH OF CAMBRIDGE, WHERE HE ENDED HIS SERVICE IN 1945. CLICK 'VIEW FULL SIZE' ABOVE TO READ ARTICLE.
